About PARK HOUSE OPERA

Robert and Sam Salvoni are blessed to be the latest custodians of Park House, a small Country House nestled between Truro and St Clement, on the peninsula that was once the ancient Forest of Moresk. Having always enjoyed Opera, they were keen to support the fabulous Duchy Opera by opening up their home as a venue. Opera has been enjoyed for generations, delivering joy, farce, intrigue - indeed every facet of human emotion. Far from the exclusive and high-brow impression now often given, Park House Opera is all about reviving the principles of “Opera Buffa” - being entertained and having fun!

If you don’t go away whistling the tunes, we have failed….

Our first year hosting Duchy Opera’s performance of Donizetti’s “Elixir of Love” was a triumph, and we were delighted to welcome almost 600 guests to share the experience with us.

Duchy Opera surpassed themselves, and seeing seeing the wonderful professional soloists, many of whom are at the early stages of their glittering careers, deliver stellar performances was a privilege. Our food and drink partners also helped to make it a memorable event, so we determined to do it all over again in 2022.

The Gondoliers, a wonderful Gilbert and Sullivan romp, went down a storm with our audience, and with almost 700 guests, PHO now felt like a firm fixture.

2023 combined “serious” opera (Mascagni’s dramatic Cavalleria Rusticana) with another light G&S favourite (Trial By Jury), and we reached an audience of almost 800!

We are already planning to host Duchy Opera again in 2024, with the delightful and hilarious Die Fledermaus, a Strauss classic set at a Viennese Masked Ball.
